We are a small sake brewery in Iwaki City, Fukushima PrefectureFounded in 1845 (Koka 2), Matabei I is said to have loved sake so much that he started brewing sake for himself. The name "Matabei" not only pays homage to his ancestors, but also expresses his will "to brew sake that is not flashy or elegant, but is as honest as a wild samurai.We produce "Matabei" in a brewery built in the Meiji era with the desire to preserve the traditional way of sake brewing and to make sake that will please the local people.
