Founded in 1865 (the first year of Keio). Kawashima Sake Brewery has a brewery in the famous water place "Kabata" around Lake Biwa. The brewery, which is walking only in the line of "Matsu-no-hana", a famous sake with an unparalleled taste brewed by Omi rice cultivated from clean water and fertile soil, has started the Lake Biwa Distillery with the aim of becoming a world-class Japanese whisky by taking advantage of the strong water and the land of Takashima, the hometown of fermentation.This is a unique opportunity for a Japan sake brewery to also work on a distillery.
